1. Driving in Prohibited Areas
If a motorcyclist is found driving in prohibited areas for motorcycles, the owner’s vehicle will be confiscated, and the driver may be subject to a hefty fine of up to AED 20,000 to get the vehicle back.
2. Driving without a Licence
Driving on the roads without a license is considered a serious offence in Sharjah and across the UAE. The vehicle can be confiscated, and in this case, drivers will have to pay AED 30,000 to get their vehicle back.
3. Driving on Yellow Lines
Vehicles are also impounded if they are caught driving between vehicles or overtaking in the yellow line area. Drivers can pay a hefty fine of up to AED 5,000 to have their vehicles returned.
4. Reckless Driving
If motorists fail to drive the vehicle appropriately or cause harm to someone’s life or property, it might lead to a serious offence. The drivers’ vehicles are confiscated by the police. In this case, the motorists must pay a fine of up to Dh15,000 to Dh20,000 to get their vehicle back.
5. Over Speeding
Sometimes the drivers operate at a speed, and they do not know that they are under CCTV surveillance. If you are caught driving a car above 200 km/hour, you will be fined up to Dh10,000.
On the other hand, drivers who drive at speeds exceeding 80 km/h will be fined 5,000 dirhams and have their vehicles repossessed.
6. Evading Police
If the police call you on the road and you ignore them, it means you have committed an offence. In such a case, your vehicle will be confiscated, and you will have to pay Dh10,000 for heavy vehicles and Dh5,000 for light vehicles.
7. Deception from traffic officers.
If you are found to have deceived traffic authorities regarding light vehicles, the vehicle will be immediately confiscated, and you will have to pay 5,000 dirhams to get the vehicle back.
8. Disobeying a Traffic Signal
If you fail to follow the traffic signage and jump a red light on the road, it is considered a serious offense that leads to severe consequences. Additionally, your vehicle will be impounded, and you will have to pay Dh5,000 to get it back, whether it is a light vehicle or a heavy vehicle.
9. Modifying Vehicle
Motorists found to be modifying a vehicle without prior permission or making unauthorized modifications will be fined up to Dh10,000 for the first time, up to Dh15,000 for the second time, and another Dh15,000 for the third time.
